Resilience, Evaluation, Analysis and Learning (REAL) Award
The REAL Award aims to inform and improve resilience policy and programming through strategic analysis, capacity strengthening and knowledge sharing.
Since gaining prominence among governments, donors and implementers in the wake of repeated drought crises in the Horn of Africa and the Sahel, the concept of resilience and its relevance to addressing key issues of vulnerability and extreme poverty globally has continued to evolve. A key element of this evolution has been continual refinement of methods of data collection and analysis of resilience at multiple scales aimed at promoting evidence-based policy and program design and implementation guidance.
Increasing frequency and intensity of large-scale, complex crises throughout the world, and a desire among governments, donors and implementers to use limited resources most effectively make the need for learning related to resilience analysis and programming more critical than ever if we are to break the cycle of crises among extremely vulnerable households and communities.
The overall aim of the REAL Award is to inform and improve resilience policy and programming through strategic analysis, capacity strengthening and knowledge sharing.
